Oregon
Anglers Research Society (OARS)
is an all-volunteer group founded to bring together the most recent
scientific fisheries research and the general public.
Many
positive scientific studies are being considered, or have been published
in journals that only fisheries researchers read. These studies
remain unexplored, with only the negative reaching the media.
Our
main objective is to make fishing and conservation work together in
harmony. All the citizens of Oregon will benefit.
OARS is a non-profit corporation
registered in the state of Oregon.
|
OARS MISSION
We
promote sustainable fisheries through education and scientific research.
|
OARS GOALS
-
OARS will gather scientific research reports that promote recovery ,
conservation, and mitigation of both game fish and other aquatic and
marine species.
-
OARS will disseminate this information through its web site,
published articles, group meetings, public workshops, etc.
-
OARS will also publicize new fishing techniques, identification of
species, and equipment that can reduce mortality of released
species, particularly those listed as threatened or endangered.
-
OARS will participate in research that can aid recovery and
conservation of sport fish species.
-
OARS will award grants that can further sport fishing and the
recovery of depleted stocks through research and education.
